I couldn’t keep editing in front of the TV.
I needed a desk, an “in box” and pencil holder, somewhere to be “creative”, play music, see clients……
We had the space and looked at sheds, bungalows, purpose built studios – all very expensive. I started looking outside the square and found this gem on Gumtree – all those windows, all that graffiti: open and fresh but oh my, did she need some work! And transporting!! It was an old site office, then a training room – all she needed was some love (ok, lots of love – and paint, and windows fixed, and a new floor and you get the idea!).
She’s not perfect, she’s not even finished being renovated – but she is my perfect place to work, create, breathe and watch the Birdies 😊
First Look: There is definitely potential there – those windows!! But also LOTS of work needed. So I made a ridiculous offer – and they accepted!!
Now to prepare the site – luckily we have plenty of space to play with:
Here she comes – all 20 tonne and taking up 2 lanes!! Just made it through the gate!
Then the hard work began! Stripped, sanded, painted, new windows, electrical work, air con, flooring, front door, deck and replacing exterior colorbond (the graffiti wasn’t the kind you want to keep!!)
How lucky am I to have a handy hubby who wanted to make my space beautiful and workable? He has put in so much hard work to make my dreams come to life (even if sometimes I get in the way or change my mind!!)
And here she is now – my cosy little office, inside photo studio, complete with a kettle for endless cuppas! There is still work to do – recover the chaise, additional storage, adding an outdoor studio to the back wall, and planting some nice bird attracting plants under the windows – but there’s plenty of time for that – I plan on sticking around and doing what I love for a while yet…
Visitors are always welcome, I’ll put the kettle on……
I am here to photograph you wherever you feel comfortable – Contact me for more information. I cant wait to hear from you.
